Emanuel Spence Ltd and it's relationship with the History and People of Middlesbrough
Emanuel Spence has always looked to the future and in 2007 this is no exception.

The future will not be from oil fired heating, nor from gas central heating.

The future will be from Solar - it is very powerful and it is free.

Emanuel Spence Ltd has invested in a new Solar training facility and underfloor heating training room.

If you visit our offices you will find our hot water is Solar powered and our training room is lit by a Sunscoop which provides free lighting.

Climate change is upon us and our energy supplies are running out due to competition from the far East and others.

We will need to invest in new technology such as ground source heat pumps that take heat from the ground and heat recovery units which will redistribute heat in large buildings

Lighting and power will come from photovoltaic power - which will be one of our next projects.

And what of Middlesbrough ?

Investment in our Future

John Spence, his Father David Spence and his Grandfather Emanuel Spence have one important fact in common. Just as his father did in 1961 John Spence believes that he should test all new products first before selling them to his customers.

John has installed the very latest in Solar heating panels from Viessmann in Germany, they provide over 65% of his hot water.

This has not been without trauma !

John had to battle with his local Council Stockton Borough Council to gain planning permission to install the same - whilst Middlesbrough Borough Council do try to be positive about renewable energy, Stockton certainly did not.

The Company now uses the very latest in Computer technology to allocate and progress jobs and uses satellite tracking technology to monitor and allocate vehicles to give our Customers the very best service we can.

'Careful attention is still being given to all orders -  112 years later'

In 1926 at least the people who ran Middlesbrough had a very clear vision as to how the Town should look and how the Trade and shops should be run. Today the Council is preoccupied with one off small prestige short lived projects. They have lost the sight and need to plan for the people who live and work in the Town.

If you do an internet search on Middlesbrough - you do not come up with an ICI, a Head Wrightson or Dorman Long you come up with 'Middlesbrough Football Club' whilst this may be good for our sporting links it is not what we should aim for.

If you ask the current Mayor which County we are in we are told ' North Yorkshire for ceremonial purposes and Tees Valley for promotional purposes'

Middlesbrough must regain a pride and sense of knowing where it and it's inhabitants are so more businesses will invest in the area and provide real jobs for local people.

In 1926 we had vision for the future - we need that now more than ever.
